John Whitman is a 4th degree black belt in Krav Maga and a CrossFit Level 1 certified instructor. He served as president of Krav Maga Worldwide for 7 years, and has been teaching for 15 years. John teaches civilian, military, and law enforcement personnel, and has taught elite military units in the United States and abroad. John is co-author of the books Complete Krav Maga and Krav Maga For Beginners. John has “train the trainer” status and has trained most of the other Krav Maga instructors currently working in North America. He contributed significantly to the creation of the certification course used in North America to train Krav Maga instructors. He has appeared in numerous media outlets, including The Today Show, ABC News, and CNN.

 

Vivian Cannon is one of the few female Black Belts in Krav Maga teaching in the United States. She has been teaching for 7 years, and is the creator of the Focus Verbal Self Defense program. When she is not teaching, Vivian is also the head of the television department for Original Film, and has been producing television for 10 years.

 

 

 

Brent Wilkening is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga and has been teaching for 7 years. He is a certified instructor for civilians, military, and law enforcement personnel. He has “train the trainer” status and has helped to certify many of the other Krav Maga instructors currently teaching in the United States. Brent has taught multiple military and law enforcement units around the country.

 

 


Adam Noble is an NSCA CSCS (National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), Level 1 CrossFit certified, CrossFit: Olympic Weightlifting, Barbell, Nutrition, and Running/Endurance certified, and a USAWeightlifting Club Coach. He has also been certified as an RKC II (Russian Kettlebell Certification). He is a former sponsored competitive snowboarder. Adam has a real passion for fitness, and will talk your ear off about proper squat mechanics if given an opening. When not coaching, he is both an actor and the owner of Carbon, a Culver City bar.

 

 

 

 

 Jeff Hein - Krav Maga Tactical Advisor. Jeff is an Aviation Security Specialist who has been teaching Krav Maga since 2002.  In addition he was part of the team that introduced Krav Maga to the FAM service at both the local and National level. He has taught Krav to federal state and local law enforcement during the past seven years. Jeff has also trained several special ops groups as part of their pre-deployment to the war in the Middle East. He holds a black belt in judo, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiujutsu and was a former Greco-Roman wrestler for 20 years. Jeff has worked extensively with head instructor John Whitman to develop practical applications of Krav in the aviation security industry.  Prior to teaching Krav Maga, Jeff coached MMA fighters for the San Diego Fight Club for ten years. He has a passion for implementing Krav Maga into the military and law enforcement communities.

 

 

Heather Rider has been working in the fitness industry since the age of 16. Beginning her fitness career in New York City, she came to Los Angeles in 1998 and has taught spinning, boot camp, conditioning and a variety of speciality classes at some of the hottest gyms in Los Angeles. Heather is a full time fitness instructor and trainer and has been a featured quoted fitness expert in many magazines such as Shape, Self and Fitness. She is ACE, AFAA, ACSM and NASM certified, has worked as a Reebok Master trainer and has presented fitness classes and lectures around the country.

 

Tom "Dusty" Hyland is a CrossFit Level 1 instructor as well as an accomplished athlete, gymnast, and trainer. As a teen, he won 7 gold medals including the all around at The British Columbia Championships and won the Washington State Championship as well. Later that season, he placed 9th all around at Canadian National Championships and made the Junior National Team, and then began to train at Stanford University under Two Time World Champion Tong Fei. By 16, he competed at the Junior Olympic National Championships and trained with the US Olympic Team. In college, he competed in NCAA Division 1 Men's gymnastics and defeated his old team Stanford going on to score an NCAARecord Perfect Ten on the Still Rings. After retiring from gymnastics, he travelled
the world starring in a Cirque De Soleil-type live show before
settling in Los Angeles. He currently does stunt work, and strength endurance training at Focus.

 

 

Melissa Beery Noble is a level 1 CrossFit certified instructor and prior to her exposure to CrossFit was a self-admitted workout noob. While at first humbled and slightly intimidated by the workout, (she had never even attempted a pull-up before!) she soon learned to crave the challenge CrossFit provided. One of her greatest accomplishments has been nailing the kipping pull-up and she thoroughly enjoys helping others attain their fitness goals.

 

Kaleigh Lundy’s background and love for dance led her to try her first official yoga class in 2006. She quickly realized the profound physical and mental benefits that could be achieved with a regular practice and became hooked! Since then, she’s immersed herself in studying and practicing the fundamentals of yogic philosophy, in particular power/vinyasa flow and hatha yoga, and enjoys training with a wide variety of instructors including Matthew Reyes, Kourtney Kaas, Tom Morley and Annie Carpenter. She completed 200 hours of teacher training at YogaHop in Santa Monica and is a registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance. Kaleigh blends a mixture of basic yogic fundamentals with creative sequencing and uplifting music to motivate her students to further deepen and develop their own individual practice. You can expect to challenge your strength and balance, develop a deeper mental clarity and experience a newfound sense of achievement and purpose each time you come to class.

 

Perry Hauck is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Prof. Ricardo “Rey” Diogo. In addition to B.J.J., Perry has studied a number of other martial arts & combat sports, principally Japanese Jiu-Jitsu in which he also holds a Black Belt. A former Senior Instructor & Instructor Trainer for Impact Personal Safety, Inc., Perry teaches all of his classes with an eye towards simplicity and practical self-defense application. As a member of the Rey Diogo/Carlson Gracie Team, he has competed in both B.J.J. and Submission Wrestling, winning Gold or Silver in several tournaments. Mostly though, Perry loves sharing the excitement of this unique grappling art with others.

 

Bryin Taylor has been training in Krav Maga since 2004.  He teaches at both America's Best Karate in Chatsworth and at Focus, the headquarters of the Krav Maga Alliance. In addition to teaching Krav Maga, Bryin is a freelance graphic designer with a BFA in Graphic Design from the Art Center College of Design.
